ARTISTS, MUSICIANS, DJs:

African Kora workshop and evening performance

Suntou Susso

Suntou Susso is a talented African Kora player and music teacher from The Gambia, West Africa. He comes from the family where they have been playing Kora for over 800 years. 

For the last 4 years Suntou has been performing and teaching Kora at musical projects throughout the UK. He has appeared on shows including BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 3, folk show live sessions and ITV This Morning Show.


Brazilian dance workshop and evening Gala

Bridget Withycombe-Wharton assisted by Rome Mosabbir, drumming


Over the last 20 years Bridget Withycombe-Wharton has been a member and leader of several Greater Manchester Samba bands, as well as being involved in many educational, community and performance groups as a choreographer, teacher and performer.

Her passions are enthused by the traditions and styles of Samba and African dance, as well as, the art of ‘story telling’ through movement.

African drumming workshop and evening Gala

Malo Sonko




Malo Sonko is an experienced African Djembe drummer and teacher from Abene in the Casamance region of Senegal, West Africa.

Malo is a master Djembe player. Over the last 34 years he has been playing African Djembe drum and performing at various venues throughout the UK and overseas.

Malo workshops create a fun and dynamic learning environment where participants feel good, motivated and have lots of fun.

Jokeh Sillah and Sens Sagna 

Jokeh Sillah

Jokeh Sillah is a Gambian dance artist internationally recognised for her knowledge and inspirational teaching techniques of traditional West African dance.

Jokeh has been based in Manchester for over 14 years and co-founded Santa Yalla Arts. She is Artistic Director and Principal African Dancer providing performances and workshops throughout the country.

Sens Sagna

Sens Sagna is an experienced and inspirational dancer, drummer, singer and teacher from the Cassamance region of Senegal, West Africa.

Sens arrived in Manchester in 2005. Over the last 12 years he has been running African dance and drumming classes and workshops. Sens is artistic director of the vibrant performance group ‘Sens Sagna and the Kajamor Family’, as well as collaborating with a range of artists at events throughout the country.

Sens draws on his traditional heritage and his vast performance experience, to bring his African roots alive.

“Sens Sagna and The Kajamor Family” are a diverse group of musicians based in Manchester and brought together by the love of African music. They play Afrobeat and Reggae.

For the last 10 years the band have been performing on UK festivals, carnivals and other events.

“Sens Sagna and the Kajamor Family” bring an authentic, vibrant and groovy live performance to their fans.
