Released in the 90s Golden Age heyday, Bahamadia’s Kollage stands proudly as one of the best hip-hop albums of the era.
A prodigious talent when she first burst onto the scene, A-list producers like DJ Premier, Guru and The Roots all queued up to work with her on Kollage, sampling everyone from Weather Report to Marvin Gaye in the process. Suffice to say, the album didn’t disappoint across its 15 tracks, pushing the progressive sound of the jazz rap sub genre to a new audience.
Still regarded as a cult classic, and sampled by the likes of Lil Kim and Nujabes, Bahamadia went on to work with Slum Village and Dwele on her follow up in 2000, BB Queen.
Opening the show will be fast rising west London rapper Lava La Rue.
