Sunderland’s Waves Festival is set to make a triumphant return on Saturday 16th November, with the line-up now announced including headliners Miles Kane (one man band), Red Rum Club, Tom A. Smith & benefits.
The all day multi-venue festival takes place over eight venues in the heart of the city bringing international, national and regional artists together for a day of music in Sunderland. Returning for a fourth year, Waves will once again utilise the city’s flagship venue The Fire Station as the main stage alongside organisers Independent, and Pop Recs, The Ship Isis, The Bunker & Diego’s who were involved last year plus the addition of renowned live music venues and pubs The Museum Vaults & The Ivy House.
Headliner Miles Kane (one half of The Last Shadow Puppets) brings his excellent back-catalogue of indie hits to the festival via his one man band show and is joined by an extended list of emerging and established talents from across the UK, fronted up by Sunderland’s very own rising star Tom A. Smith, fresh off the back of a jam-packed festival summer and a brilliant new single release. He joins Miles Kane in The Fire Station alongside festival favourites & racket-makers Dead Wet Things.
Liverpool's brass-fused indie outfit Red Rum Club are set to play a fairly intimate show for the band headlining the Independent stage, their latest album ‘Western Approaches’ released earlier this year and charted at #8 in the UK charts and the band then went on to sell out their hometown arena show to 9000 fans. Headlining the Pop Recs stage at this years festival, we're excited to welcome Teesside noise makers benefits who'll bring their outspoken and loud set of intensity to Sunderland this November.
Other exciting emerging acts such as Dirty Blonde, Oslo Twins, Michael Gallagher & Work In TV are heading to the city to complete the line-up alongside a plethora of the finest North East talent plus picks from some of the regions best tastemakers Serial Bowl Records, BBC Music Introducing, Stockton Calling & Portions 4 Foxes.
*Tickets are exchanged for a wristband from The Fire Station box office on the day from 12 midday. You must collect your wristband first before you will be permitted entry into any of the stages. If attending the pre-party at Independent on Friday 15th November you can exchange your ticket for a wristband here.
*Please note when purchasing a ticket you are buying a ticket for the festival and not one specific artist, each venue will have their own capacity on the day and when capacity is hit a one-in-one-out policy will be in place. If you want ensure you don't miss your favourite band we recommend getting to the venue early to get a good spot.
