Autism, also known as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is a complex neurodevelopmental condition characterized by a range of symptoms, skills, and levels of disability. Individuals with autism often experience challenges with social interactions, communication, and exhibit repetitive behaviours or restricted interests. The spectrum nature of the disorder means that it manifests uniquely in each individual, with some requiring significant support in their daily lives while others can live independently.
Autism is typically diagnosed in early childhood, often around the age of two or three. The key indicators include social communication challenges, repetitive behaviours, and sensory sensitivities
The causes of autism are not fully understood, but research suggests a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Early diagnosis and intervention are crucial in improving outcomes for individuals with autism, helping them develop essential life skills.
Autism Awareness Day is on the 2nd of April. This is a perfect opportunity to spread awareness and support individuals with autism and their families by raising money for Child Autism UK.
Run, walk or jog any distance on the 2nd of April 2025, (World Autism Awareness Day). We also accept treadmill activities.
All participants will receive a beautiful white finishers medal for their achievement. This medal is made from aluminium and comes with a plain colour ribbon.
