Three professional works and three newly commissioned works programmed in one event!
GOOD BLOOD is commissioned by NSCD Northern Connections, 2FACED Dance Co The BENCH Seed Commission, and Arts Council England. It is a work in progress production that looks closely at the relationship of two sisters. Entertaining and familiar scenarios are refreshed and brought into focus to shed new light on family ties; the bonds that hold us together and the people that make us. Keira and Sioda Martin were born and bred in Barnsley, Yorkshire.
Periodo Blu is a dance work exploring the human condition, using the colour blue as a starting point depicting two characters. Periodo Blu explores shades of the human condition, through a spectrum which is both life-affirming and ruthless. Matrafisc Dance was developed by Ina Colizza & Antonello Apicella following a meeting at a project developed for the Napoli Teatro Festival, where they were both dancers.
Coalesce Dance Theatre is a Salford based, all female directed, contemporary dance company. Their work explores the breakdown of human interaction in our technically advanced society; the use of live music incites an exploration of our disenchantment with reality and our obsession with the virtual. Coalesce Dance Theatre was formed in 2016 by Fern Wareham, Rachel Maffei and Anna Papatheodorou, and are supported by The University of Salford as an Alumni Artist in Residence.
All years will perform alongside dance artists Keira Martin, Matrafisc Dance, and Coalesce Dance Theatre.
We are very excited that Keira and Sioda Martin and Matrafisc Dance are also this year's commissioned choreographers for second and third year students.
