The Magpie Arc

The Magpie Arc, Wednesday 16th August.

A cross border band out of Sheffield and Edinburgh feat the award winning talents of Martin Simpson, Nancy Kerr, Findlay Napier, Tom Wright (The Albion Band), and Alex Hunter.

Formed out of an idea to bring together a group of musicians and friends who would mix and match their influences, song writing styles and musicianship in an eclectic band setting whilst giving a passing nod to the golden age of 60's and 70's British folk/rock. The musical possibilities of The Magpie Arc being something special and unique in today's folk scene soon became very obvious.

Expect new songs, thought provoking covers plus, perhaps, some reworked traditional songs. There'll be folk and definitely rock, a bit of country and maybe some blues, a musical mix of everything you'd expect from such a line up. Great songs, lush harmonies, intricate electric guitars, gorgeous fiddle lines and rock solid bass and drums.
