HONK IF YOU WONK

Wonk Unit was born on a freezing South London building site in 2005. After spending the 90s wrecking up stages across Europe in the Flying Medallions, Alex started Wonk Unit as his personal diary. Never turning down a gig, the band grew and their uniquely charming and chaotic take on punk rock developed a devoted family of fans across the world.

The Wonk Unit sound is hard to box in- Alex has described his influences as ranging from Leatherface to Elton John. It's always been DIY in the truest sense, but the band has never been afraid to cross genres and break boundaries.

Emerging from two years stuck at home with 7th studio album Uncle Daddy in November 2021, the Wonk machine shows no signs of slowing down. With praise from the likes of legendary DJs Steve Lamacq and Rodney Bingenheimer, a collaboration with Slaves' Isaac Holman, and an ever hectic touring schedule including a support with Less Than Jake, the band has gone from strength to strength.

Support from Crapsons and The Arguments

Crapsons are topical junk punk trio from Birkenhead. Their raw and energizing punk rock illuminate the defects of working class life. The band are Mike Markey with his fuzzy distorted bass, spitting vocals out like a young John Cooper Clarke, Andy Gilbert on “Slaves-style” stand-up drums, and Pete Williamson bringing a touch of class to the band on guitar.
