WAVES FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES EXCITING NEW LIVE MUSIC SERIES IN SUNDERLAND: POOL’D

The team behind the popular Waves Festival is thrilled to announce an exciting new series of live music events, bringing an exciting mix of emerging local, regional, and touring talent to Sunderland’s vibrant music scene. The new series will feature occasional gigs throughout the year, each with two-artist lineups, mainly spotlighting bands and performers who have previously graced the Waves Festival stage or are set to perform in the future. The events will also act as networking opportunities and socials for the staff, promoters and artists from past Waves events.

The debut event in this promising new series will take place on Saturday, 12th April, at Independent in Sunderland. The night promises to be an unforgettable showcase, with performances by John MOuse and CHAT.

The new live music series is set to bring the same high-quality, diverse musical programming that Waves Festival has become known for, offering a platform for emerging and established talent across all genres. With future events already in the works, this new series is shaping up to be a key part of Sunderland's live music calendar. Whether you're a longtime Waves Festival fan or new to Sunderland's vibrant music scene, this event is not to be missed. Stay tuned for more updates and announcements about future events in this exciting live music series.

John MOuse

John MOuse (John Davies) is a Welsh musician known for blending indie-pop, alternative rock, and electronic music. With sharp lyrics and emotive storytelling, he has become a unique voice in the UK indie scene.

Hailing from Cardiff, John MOuse gained recognition with albums like The Death of John MOuse and Replica Figures. His recent work, including The Goat, embraces darker, electronic sounds, drawing comparisons to LCD Soundsystem and Hot Chip, while maintaining his distinctive style.

Collaborating with artists like Sweet Baboo and Gruff Rhys, John MOuse’s music combines a DIY spirit with experimental energy. His dynamic live shows continue to captivate audiences, cementing his place as one of Wales' most innovative musicians.

CHAT

Chat are Sunderland based synthpop duo Jordan Miller and Beccy Young. Joining forces after discovering a mutual appreciation of pop music, Jordan & Beccy have been quietly crafting infectious bangers since 2018, ready to unleash them and get people dancing this year.

The duo are inspired by current pop queens (Lady Gaga, Kylie, Roisin Murphy) and the many electro duos of the 80s (Eurhythmics, Pet Shop Boys, Yazoo) using synthesisers and drum machines to create a sound reminiscent of Stock, Aitken and Waterman and Trevor Horn produced hits.
