International@CampusLife - CitizenCard Offer

International@CampusLife are pleased to offer international students at Swansea University a UK CitizenCard at a special offer price!

What is a CitizenCard?

A CitizenCard is a UK government authorised secure and trusted ID card which you can access and use as identification in the UK. We highly recommend that you get one of these cards to use for day-to-day identification purposes. If you’d like some in-depth information, please check out the CitizenCard Website.

Experience shows us that students (particularly international students) often use their passport or Biometric Residence Card (visa card) for ID purposes. Every year we see many students who must get these replaced due to losing them. These documents are expensive to replace.

  • A replacement visa costs a minimum of £85 and can take many months to be processed.
  • For passports, some Embassies are not currently processing replacement applications due to issues caused by COVID. Those that do may require travel to London to apply for a replacement – this can be a very costly and time-intensive process.

We highly recommend that you take advantage of accessing a CitizenCard and carrying this as your ID instead- it could save you a lot of money, time and stress!

What is the offer?

The standard cost for a CitizenCard is £20-35. International@CampusLIfe can arrange a CitizenCard for enrolled Swansea University students at a reduced cost of just £10 - this includes the ICL administration, 'ticket' booking and postage fees.

International@CampusLIfe staff will complete and authorise your CitizenCard application as per a special agreement we have with the service provider. When we receive your card, we will post it to you via Royal Mail 1st Class post. It is important that you let us know if your UK address changes via our CitizenCard email address citizencard@swansea.ac.uk The process should take between 14-21 days

Can I get a CitizenCard from CitizenCard directly?

You may purchase a card online via the CitizenCard website, however this will be at the full price outlined below. You will need to provide a referee who is happy to be contacted by the service provider. Please note: International@CampusLIfe can only be used as a referee if you follow the ICL Citizencard application process. We hold no responsibility for card applications made outside the ICL University process.

  • STANDARD APPLICATION - Costs £20 and takes 21 days.
  • URGENT APPLICATION - Costs £35 and takes 1-2 working days.

What if I lose my CitizenCard?

If you have lost your CitizenCard you can easily obtain replacements, and there are two ways to do this:

1. Simply apply for a new one using the International@CampusLife process above – you can do this while you’re an enrolled Swansea University Student!

2. You can also apply directly via the CitizenCard website– however you will need all relevant documentation ready to upload and would be subject to the following charges:

  • STANDARD APPLICATION - Costs £12 and takes 21 days.
  • URGENT APPLICATION - Costs £25 and takes 1-2 working days.

How do I get this Offer?

If you want to take advantage of the International@CampusLife £10 offer, simply buy a ticket via this page. Once you’ve done this, you’ll receive an email explaining how to take an acceptable photo for your CitizenCard. Simply forward the email with your photo attached to citizencard@swansea.ac.uk as soon as you can (if you don’t do this, we can’t process your application!)

We’ll then process your application and get your card to you as soon as we can!

How can I be sure my Photograph will be accepted?

The photo requirements will be emailed to you in your ticket information, and must meet some strict rules.

If you want to be confident your photo will be accepted, we recommend using a Passport Standard service. The nearest service provider is Colliers Photographic - www.colliersphotographicswansea.co.uk. They are located at 1 Sketty Road, Uplands, Swansea – for their location on Google Maps click here > https://g.page/Colliersphoto?share. Colliers will provide physical and digital photos that are suitable for this and other official purposes.

If you have any questions, please email citizencard@swansea.ac.uk providing your Student Number
