“Nobody else seems to be doing what Campbell is doing right now, and his passion and determination deserve recognition” – John Wilks
Johnny Campbell’s has earned a formidable reputation on the British and European underground scenes, performing over a thousand shows by relentlessly touring over twenty countries, including USA, Mainland Europe, Nordic and Scandinavian countries as well as Eastern Europe. He has even recorded a live album on the Faroe islands.
Johnny is also an avid hill walker and campaigner for the right to roam and his efforts have featured in Country Walking magazine, The Guardian and on BBC Radio 4’s “Open Country” alongside Jez Lowe.
In 2024, Johnny recorded the album “True North”, with each track recorded live at the summit of the highest hill in each county in the North of England. This year, he walked the Pennine Way with a guitar and performed 17 shows in 19 days. Clearly, he is no ordinary folk singer and we are delighted to welcome him back for his sixth Toft House gig.
Michelle Laverick, originally from Teesside, is a very talented and highly inventive song writer and interpreter of folk songs. The one and only Tom Robinson said this of her: “It was a real pleasure to meet and hear Michelle play last week - beautifully crafted lyrics, great guitar playing - her poise and experience make her a great writer and performer.”
