Jess Silk & Ruby Kelly @ The Ship Isis

Jess Silk is a guitarist, singer and songwriter from the Black Country. Her shouty but melodic brand of folk/punk music often has her being likened to a female Frank Turner or Billy Bragg, and it gets people sitting up and listening. Armed only with an increasingly sticker-covered acoustic guitar and a distinctive, gravely voice that many don’t expect, Jess plays to audiences up and down the UK.

Ruby Kelly achieved local success in her hometown in South Wales with her debut EP ‘King of the World’ getting press coverage in The South Wales Argus and Radio Play on BBC Wales. Once established on her own turf she immediately set her sights on the North-East of England. Her last two releases, 'Hometown' and 'The Roots' have gained nationwide radio play she is fast become a fixture at national festivals.
