Stand Up Comedy in Reading is back. Mates Rates Comedy is proud to present Comedy at The Taproom with HeadlinerGlenn Wool.

Mates Rates Comedy has teamed up with Double-Barrelled Brewery to bring you the best acts from the UK comedy scene. 

We will have TV names, up and coming circuit comics and as always, you will be guided along by our trusty MC Carl Richard.

The show takes place at Double Barrelled Brewery between 8pm - 10pm  (doors open 7pm).

Glenn Wool

Glenn began his comedy career in his hometown of Vancouver in 1995… Made the move to London in 1998 and quickly became one of the rising stars, and household names on the UK & European comedy circuits.

Winning over audiences globally and a TV favourite on the Melbourne, Sydney & New Zealand International Comedy Galas. Glenn was nominated for Best International Act at the New Zealand Comedy Awards and was twice nominated as Best Headliner at the UK Chortle Awards.

His impressive array of TV credits include John Oliver’s 'New York Stand-Up Show' as well as appearances on: The Green Room with Paul Provenza, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Russell Howard’s Good News!, Doug Stanhope’s The Comedians' Comedian's Comedians, which was recorded at SXSW!

Andy is one of the most popular comedians we have here at The Stand-Up Club and a regular MC for us. With a mix of jokes, comedy songs and plenty of audience interaction Andy is never afraid to indulge in some friendly back-and-forth with the crowd, creating a real party atmosphere as host.

Blank Peng
Meet Blank Peng, the bilingual stand-up sensation who’s taking the comedy scene by storm. Originally performing in Mandarin, Blank ventured into English stand-up upon her arrival in the UK.

In just one remarkable year, Blank Peng has achieved a string of accolades. She made history as the first female winner of the prestigious Top Secret Comedy Gong and also triumphed as the King Gong and Rising Star New Act Competition champion in 2022. Additionally, she secured a finalist spot in the Leicester New Comedian of the Year competition, emerged as the West End New Act Runner-up, and reached the semi-finals of the Komedia Comedy Awards.
