After something of a hiatus, Wah Wah 45s return to London clubland with their legendary Wah Wah Live parties, showcasing some of their favourite and most exciting live acts and DJs at their new home of The Jago in East London.
Kicking things off will be erstwhile Wah Wah 45s recording artist, the inimitable Gideon Conn, coming down from Manchester for a very special one-off London show. Gideon is a unique performer, combining delicate vocals with playful rapping, all put together with his unmistakable wit, humour and charm - a true "Hip Hop Original", on stage at 9pm sharp.
Kymara is an intriguing young vocalist from Brighton who conjures up a heady combination of Nina Simone's storytelling, D'Angelo's soulfulness and the purity and rawness of Janis Joplin. She will be live on stage with her band around 10pm.
Raz & Afla will be live headliners for the night. Theirs is a hugely intoxicating collaboration between Hackney-based producer Raz Olsher and Ghanaian master percussionist and vocalist Afla Sackey. The result is their own cosmic take on Afro-house with a live show that's simply not to be missed! On stage around 11pm.
Guest DJs on the night will be dynamic DJ and production duo Village Cuts who often collaborate with artists from Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean to bring a very special take on UK club culture. Among their many incredible remixes over recent years is their hugely popular remix for Wah Wah 45s recording artists Isaac Birituro & The Rail Abandon - a festival favourite! Performing around midnight.
Finally, rounding things off and holding things together are the two men behind the record label - Dom Servini & Chris Goss. The pair have several decades of DJing experience between them and with Dom holding down a 30 year residency at London's Jazz Cafe and Chris also being head honcho at Hospital Records, you can expect diverse and eclectic selections from them throughout the night.
