Transmission Presents the 10th instalment of SLEAZE, a night showcasing the north west's finest in alternative rock, punk, and grunge.
Cages For Preachers
Cages For Preachers from Nottingham, UK, are a grunge/Metal hybrid that blend the sounds of Led Zeppelin, Soundgarden, Alter Bridge, Alice In Chains and Jeff Buckley into one. Their heavy, loud, raw, and powerful guitar-driven rock with intensely sung vocals has gained them a loyal underground following and band members often end up joining the mosh pits at their own shows.
Cages For Preachers are poised to be the next band in line to take on the Rock and Metal scene. Discovered and signed by Grunge Pop Records, they released their highly anticipated first single “Let Me In” in December 2021 followed by ‘The Blind Leading The Blind’ then ‘Adrenaline’ and ‘Bury The Hatchet’. The band is currently recording their debut album with producer Simon “Smiley” Hopkinson at Electric Bear Studios in England.
Eternum Joy
Eternum Joy was formed in Liverpool back in 2020 by a group of musicians that share a deep-rooted passion for rock n’ roll. The band comprises of four members - Stephen Abraham on lead vocals/rhythm guitar, Abby McNeil on bass, T’kius Horsley on lead guitar, and John Clare on drums. Each member brings their unique style and personality to the band, making their music stand out substantially from the rest.
The band’s sound is a fusion of alternative and 90s rock, with heavy riffs, catchy melodies, and relatable lyrics. They draw inspiration from legendary bands such as The Beatles, Nirvana, The Stone Roses and Oasis.
In their short 3 years together, Eternum Joy have played an abundance of gigs throughout the UK, gaining recognition for their high-energy performances and dynamic stage presence. In late 2022, they signed with international label Golden Robot Records, who are set to release the bands debut EP in April 2023.
So far the band have released 3 hefty singles ahead of their long-awaited EP, titled ‘Prolong the Joy.’ It’s a body of work that is bound to get people dying to hear more!
Eternum Joy can only be described as a band that is destined to take the world by storm and is a must-listen for anyone who is a fan of rock… or simply loves good music!
Moby Dickless
Moby Dickless weave a tapestry of new and original sounds, their most recent release being a collaboration with Scottish poet and author Spencer Mason, called My Unfortunate Daughter. Crafted over lockdown by sending voice notes to one another, the track takes listeners on a harrowing journey through the lens of a parent, explaining the symptoms of psychosis to their future child. Featuring droning bass lines and skin crawling harmonies, it's a vivid textural experiment in setting music to poetry.
Lynksey
Lynksey is a dance-punk and/or nüwu-metal duo from the North West. They’re genre bending, loud, emotional sound kisses peaks and smooches valleys with angular riffs and danceable drums. Composed of B (they/them) on a modified guitar, synth, and vocals, with Saul (he/him) on drums, and vocals; Lynskey’s songs are a hurricane of influences. From Rueben to Frank Ocean, Cardiacs to Mclusky, and Enter Shikari to Bloc Party - the pair deftly weave in and out of genres while maintaining an infectious energy. They play songs about gender, ADHD and Keanu Reeves. With the recent release of their 2nd self-produced EP “eat that up, it’s good for you”, Lynskey looks to play as many shows as they can in 2023 and beyond. All the while, completing production on their 3rd EP and continuing the surreal narrative of their music videos. The band asks for their audience to move mindfully to promote a physically safe gig space for everyone. No pits will be opened, nor crowds killed. Dance, don't fight.
