Purple Hearts were formed in 1978 after the demise of The Sockets, their previous band. The band's debut single 'Millions Like Us' hit the UK charts and was swiftly followed by 'Frustration' and 'Jimmy' before they released the 'Beat That!' LP on Fiction Records in 1980.Along with The Jam, Secret Affair and The Chords, Purple Hearts were one of the most important band's of the 'Mod Revival' which took over the nation's youth in the late 70's and early 80's.Purple Hearts have recently returned to tour the UK supporting From The Jam to rave reactions and reviews.
