Manchester is a city that has invented and reinvented itself time and time again.
Dan Dubowitz will lead a grit walk through the underbelly of Manchester, behind, below and above the scenes of the last of Manchester’s post-industrial city centre urban regeneration areas, Mayfield. The tour will be followed by a social at the Sureshot Tap House on Sheffield Street.
Dan Dubowitz is Reader in Architecture and the International Lead for Manchester School of Architecture . From 2003-14 his design practice, Civic Works Ltd, delivered Cultural Masterplans for post-industrial areas in decline, offering those charged with the regeneration of inner cities a novel master-planning framework to better engage communities and effect a transformation of identity.
Dubowitz’s current research is primarily concerned with how tomorrow’s cities could grow out of the cities we live and work in today: prototyping novel methods for professionals charged with the transformation of a neighbourhood to meaningfully engage its citizens. We need to find a different ways of doing things….
