Cosmic Sessions: CORE w/ Beelzedub, Seamouse, Oh Mr James, & Unterwerk

CORE is a dance night that’s also a conceptual artwork...

...an invitation to dance to the rhythms and sounds of a quarry which has been drilled with hundreds of deep holes. Sounds have been recorded from the quarry and sampled together to create musical masterpieces by a selection of live artists. 

Our sense of connection to the Earth is changing. How to attune our relationship with the earth, and with each other. How to listen, how to respond, how to move together. Core grounds these questions in a quarry; a scar of extraction. It was a test site for drills used to set dynamite deep inside the stone, but has been silent for decades. 

For Core, sounds from the quarry have been mixed by an impressive list of music producers. The lost rhythm of the percussive drills is replaced by electronic beats created entirely from recordings made in the quarry. For the night Cosmic Kitchen will be filled with projections of the quarry holes, shot in 16mm. 

CORE is a collaborative artwork by Abigail Reynolds. DJ’d and composed live at Cosmic Kitchen by Beelzedub, Seamouse, and Oh Mr James, finishing with a techno set by Unterwerk.
