Right In Front Of You Music Proudly Presents...
Langkamer
Plus special guests
The last true heroes of the old South West, Langkamer make good ol’ fashioned guitar music to get your toenails twitching and your heart strings itching. With feel-good pop hits about things like mortality, anxiety and climate
change, if you don’t dig Langkamer, you’re probably a square or a narc. Or both.
Bursting onto the scene in 2018 with their debut self-titled EP, the band held tight to their alt-country instincts, with bar-stool singalongs such as ‘The Earthquake’ earning them an array of support slots including The
Nude Party, Fenne Lily, The Wave Pictures and Will Varley. 2019’s sophomore EP ‘Getting The Band Back Together’ uncovered the diverse influences behind Langkamer’s sound. Drawing on every great album in their dads’ record collections, they crafted a barnstorming record that introduced a new depth to their work. A little bit country, a little bit rock and roll, it was the sound of four musicians working perfectly in balance, and tours of both the EU and the UK only further brought out the subtle energy of key singles such as ‘Steel’ and ‘2CV’.
The dawn of a new decade has not stemmed the rivers of creativity. A fresh change came in the form of guitarist Ed Soles and bassist Tom Kelly, who joined Langkamer mainstays Joshua Jarman (vocals/drums) and Dan Anthony(guitar) at the beginning of the year. In the strange, strange summer of 2020, they finally decided to record their long-awaited debut album in the cool confines of iconic Bristol venue, The Louisiana. Produced by Will Carket of Pet Shimmers, 'West Country' is a curious blend of old Americana and the spirit of the South-West, brimming with infectious hooks and melodies. Equal parts Laurie Lee and Laurel Canyon, with a peppering of Pavement here and a bite of Big Thief there, this characterful album wears its influences on both sleeves while still offering up a sound entirely their own.
With ‘West Country’ set for release on September 10th 2021, this year promises to be the strongest for the band yet.
