70s icon and famed lead singer with legendary all-female act The Runaways, rock royalty Cherie Currie has announced a 13 date tour of UK and Eire for November and December 2024, tickets go on sale at 9am tomorrow Thursday 18 April 2024. All Meet & Greet / Ticketing Info is at www.cheriecurrie.rocks and www.SDEntertainment.co.uk
Joining in 1975, Cherie appears on the three legendary albums ‘The Runaways’, ‘Queens of Noise’ and ‘Live In Japan’. The Runaways featured Cherie Currie, Joan Jett, Lita Ford, Sandy West and Jackie Fox. The band toured extensively, playing with Van Halen, Cheap Trick, Tom Petty and many many more. The gritty reality of life with the band was turned into the 2010 movie, simply called ‘The Runaways’ in which Cherie - once described as “the lost daughter of Iggy Pop and Brigitte Bardot” - was played by Dakota Fanning. Add to the list of her achievements: chainsaw artist, actress, author and counsellor…
Cherie Currie said, “So great to be back in the UK and Ireland! This is so reminiscent of my early touring days with the Runaways during the 1970s. It feels like my second home. I'll be playing all those great songs that I know my fans want to hear. Can’t wait to see you all, my Ch Ch Ch CHERRY BOMBS!!”
After leaving The Runaways in 1977, her solo recordings include ‘Beauty's Only Skin Deep’ and 2020’s ‘Blvds Of Splendor’ which featured collaborations with the likes of Slash, Duff McKagan, Billy Corgan and Juliette Lewis. In 2015 she released ‘Reverie’ a solo record that featured ex-Runaways Lita Ford; Cherie made her last previous UK live appearances supporting this release, and in fact these led to the release of a live solo album ‘Midnight Music In London’ which included a guest slot from Suzi Quatro. Cherie also recorded extensively with her twin sister Marie, Alexx Michael and Shameless, but also released ‘The Motivator’ in 2019 with Fanny drummer and vocalist Brie Darling.
Cherie is also known for her work as a chainsaw artist, creating amazing works in wood – though an accident whilst doing this in 2016 nearly killed her – and has also turned some of her own experiences into a way of helping others by working as a drug counsellor. Cherie has also worked in film, appearing in ‘Foxes’ with Jodie Foster in 1980, and several other movies. She also wrote an autobiography ‘Neon Angel’
Matt Sorum, drummer with Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver, produced ‘Blvds Of Splendor, and said of her, “Cherie’s voice tells it all, she is the real deal. We’ve waited a long time to hear this icon of Rock N Roll do what she does best. I’m very proud to be a part of this album by one of the best female singers of all time”.
This November / December UK and Eire tour is a rare chance for fans to see Cherie Currie do what she does best. Don’t miss her.
