Blessed with musical parents, James Lascelles grew up in London and Yorkshire with music and musicians all around him, soon he evolved from early classical piano and drum lessons to Blues, Rock n Roll, and Jazz.
In the early 1970's, he claimed own success with his first project achieving recognition by the BBC.
Later, James Lascelles recorded and toured with the likes of Frank Zappa, Joan Armatrading, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Annette Peacock, Snowy White, Shusha, Paul Buckmaster and L. Shankar among others whilst all the time fronting his own bands.
All this activity brought him into contact with international artists and greatly influenced his approach and understanding of the major power of music as an international language!
In 1983/4, the renowned musician took a sabbatical from the music scene in London and led by his love of composition he traveled the world for several years to explore and develop further knowledge of sounds, this experience adds unique depth to his understanding of music and the myriad of cultures that help create beauty in our world.
Back in the UK, James Lascelles re-connected with outstanding musicians that he grew up with and formed his own Quartet to keep his music alive and explore exciting new recordings.
