Mt. Misery

+ Yeavering Bells

Initially a solo-project for Hartlepool based multi-instrumentalist Andrew Smith, Mt. Misery ‘officially’ became a band in early 2019 and quickly became firm favourites of the grizzled North East indie-pop fraternity.

Their critically-acclaimed debut album 'Once Home, No Longer' was released via Prefect Records (Ex-Void, The Natvral, The Tubs) in 2021, alongside a long-since sold-out limited edition Rough Trade Exclusive vinyl. A digital EP followed in August 2022, thanks to the support of PRS Foundation’s ‘Open Fund’.

They recently added a fourth member and bought distortion pedals, before spending a week in a cottage on the banks of Loch Fyne in western Scotland to record a new album, due November 2024 via Prefect Records. The trip was during a very hot week at the height of midgie season, and the water went off on their second to last day there. They lost the plot a bit towards the end and spent most of the time with bug nets over their heads, trying not to melt.

Like all good indie-pop bands, their whimsical live performances simultaneously break hearts and put smiles on faces. For fans of: Teenage Fanclub / Sea Urchins / Fountains of Wayne / The Lemonheads / Alvvays.
