Jamie and Hannah met at school in Edinburgh but often found themselves travelling to Glasgow on the megabus to watch gigs. After seeing The Staves perform at the Glasgow Art School the pair resolved to start writing songs together. Their writing sessions eventually turned into a fully-fledged project after they had moved to Manchester to study music.
Emerging from the same scene as Katie Gregson-Macleod, Bonnie Kemplay and Lizzie Reid, Quiet Houses are part of an exciting new generation of songwriters in Scotland. The duo have performed a number of headline shows in Manchester & Edinburgh, were featured on BBC Introducing Celtic Connections and have played a number of festival and support shows across the country. In their upcoming sophomore EP ‘Since July’, Quiet Houses look back on formative memories of growing up together in Edinburgh. Written during a transitionary period in the duo’s life after leaving university, the songs are hyper-romanticised vignettes depicting devastating and beautiful scenes from early adulthood. Inspired by artists such as Phoebe Bridgers, Adrianne Lenker, Babygirl and Gracie Abrams, Quiet Houses fuse indie-folk textures with lush pop production.
