KOWLOON COWBOY

Kowloon Cowboy is named after the hotel where my parents had their first date, the Walled City where they did social work, and a 90’s Wild West themed bar in Tsim Sha Tsui. Now I eat disgusting pies and record distorted guitars on the English coast.I'm really lucky to be joined by my friends Gary Yay (Gary & The Yays, Eager Teeth, Telegraphs) on bass and drummer Charlie Stanley (Our Friends Above, The Ordinary Boys). These songs are about fictional characters who are both explicitly not me but also me at points of great change, and also influenced by Mark Fisher's interpretation of Hauntology through the lens of an imagined Hong Kong.

DUBAIS
Dubais (Nadia Buyse) is perpetually-changing concept band. Nadia says, 'It's my response to participating in an industry where, especially as a woman of color, you have to subscribe
yourself to a certain "sound" or "image" to create a marketable product that can be easily digested and packaged by a publicist and redistributed word for word. Nadia is a singer and multi instrumentalist who has been in over 37 bands, collaborating with many artists and musicians in various capacities... but name dropping is boring AF.
