The Monday Night Club was formed in 2016 by Ciaran Booth (Drums) Mike Watkins (Guitar), and Liam Devlin (Bass). When Marcus Roberts (Vocals), arrived at their college it took less than a week for the band to settle on it’s frontman, before later completing the lineup by poaching John Lloyd (Guitar)
Initially named The Undercurrent, their debut show sold out at 7 Miles Out in Stockport, with a blistering rock covers set surprising crowds and gaining the band an immediate following. After several successful support appearances (besides the time they were cut off by Tony Christie’s helicopter itinerary) the band became inspired to write their own music. Playing across underground venues in the city, honing their songwriting, they cemented a faithful following with original, yet musically developed, high energy indie rock performances.
Their first single 'Brown Eyes' came in June 2018, followed by 'Corvette', and the 'A View From The Back Room EP', marking the end of their school days.
Whilst at university the band put out the self produced 'Down By The River' and performed a small number of sold out shows in Manchester. The band has since reached over a million streams.
Reconvening properly for the first time since they left college, The Monday Night Club have been back in the studio and announced there will be new music arriving in 2023 as they plan to showcase performances of both the heavier and softer sides of indie rock, leading with the emotive single ‘Cyclone’.
