About King Liar

King Liar

Northern floor-fillers, King Liar have set their sights on breaking new ground, supplying a unique form of alternative rock, bound together by progressive intricacies, infectious dance rhythms, and pummelling, fuzzed out riffs.

Since releasing their self-produced debut EP ‘Undelusion’ in early 2022, the band have cemented their place in the UK, relentlessly gigging their way into Liverpool, Leeds and Manchester’s Alt-Rock scene, debuting a wealth of new songs along the way. The first of these to emerge was ‘Feverish’, a raucous dance-rock track, that delivers an undeniably body-rocking anthem and a promise of what the band set out to deliver with future music.

After selling out their debut independent headline at The Jacaranda in Liverpool, the band released ‘Lonely As A God’, a biting track that acts as a lyrical takedown of those who use religion as an exploitative and manipulative tool, through serpentine lead lines and sombre, art-rock-inspired ambience.

Doubling down on this ever-widening sonic palette, and accompanying their second major independent headliner at EBGBS in Liverpool, the band’s subsequently released ‘Dead Monochrome / Escapism’. These tracks refined and enlarged their unique sonic palette into much more expansive, shapeshifting musical journeys, exploring themes of degradation and rejuvenation, both in relation to mental health and environmentalism, through psychedelic ambience and twisted, prog-infused riffs, earning them critical acclaim.

Their latest release, a single entitled “Human Error”, seeks to smoothly meld the stylistic leanings of their previous releases with lyrical ferocity and raucous energy to create a dance- prog-rock behemoth that continues to be a rambunctious highlight at their live shows. Through the winding and genre-weaving road this track presents the listener, the bombastic sonics give way to a lyrical exploration of the weight that egotism takes on the soul, driving those closest to you away while you stay stagnant in your picturesque but ultimately false ivory tower.

King Liar have graced the stage alongside acts such as The Sukis, Candid, Creepmouse, and Erotic Secrets of Pompeii, with their back catalogue earning them radio play on Future Hits Radio, Amazing Radio, and Radio Bloodstream in addition to attention on Spotify and other streaming services. 2024 sees the band continuing down the path of extensive gigging, touring, and recording, with new music consistently on the horizon.

King Liar are Adam Ainsley, Adam Barrett, Michael Sorby, and Lewis Tunnicliffe.
