Darwen Music Projects are delighted to welcome The Perfumed Garden team to Sunbird Records on Saturday 28th December for their annual 'Winter Gathering' - This will be a joint party night for The Perfumed Garden and Darwen Music Projects.
The Perfumed Garden was born at Beatherder Festival over ten years ago and has become a firm favourite for many people with it's friendly atmosphere and diverse music programme. Over the years The Perfumed Garden has played host to artists like The Orb, Ozric Tentacles, Transglobal Underground, Gong, Denis Bovell, Richard Norris, Suns Of Arqa, Henge, System 7 and many many more!
This years 'Winter Gathering' promises to be the best one yet with an amazing and typically eclectic line up of some of the best musicians and DJs from across the North of England.
Based across Yorkshire the headline act for the evening comes in the shape of 'KLONK'
The mighty Klonk juggernaut will be tearing up the dancefloor with 100% certified pure industrial rock-n-roll dynamite, crafting stone-cold killer cuts out of klezmer, Balkan, funk, jazz, metal and hip-hop. Expect full-tilt horns and wild strings going toe-to-toe with a powerhouse rhythm section. Expect scratching and sampling. Expect a dance riot.
Liz Collier is based in the North East but is now getting the recognition that she deserves from folk here in the North West with her innovative and inspiring DJ sets. We are absolutely thrilled that Liz will be with us for this event! The Perfumed Garden original curator
JOHN TREE is a very experienced DJ based in Poulton-Le-Fylde and one of our firmly established 'resident' DJ's. A PG event without John Tree just wouldn't be the same!
Led Zebra is the brand new project of Paul Dilworth, the man responsible for the famous PG gong bath on Sunday mornings! Led Zebra sees Paul move in a very different direction this time as he performs live techno style beats. This will be a full on dancing set!
Red Tin Dave - is another committee member and experienced PG resident DJ based in Hebden Bridge where he's a regular DJ at the Trades Club as well as The Golden Lion in Todmorden. Always expect the unexpected with Red Tin Dave!
Mrs Cakehead - For years Mrs Cakehead have been part of the furniture at the PG and bring to the table a huge heap of chaos to an otherwise orderly ship! It's difficult to describe what they do but we sometimes use this description...“Toasting from Bacup” using a soundtrack of reggae, bhangra, ska and gabba!!! No other live act comes close to the sheer madness that is MRS CAKEHEAD! (warning- if easily offended, we do have earplugs at the venue!)
